Interdisciplinary Designs for Integrated Learning
Journey with us as we investigate solar systems, crime scenes, wetland ecosystems, symmetry, critter life cycles, weather, bridges, gliders, amusement parks, and more. Using examples of lesson designs that integrate Science, Mathematics, Language Arts, Social Studies, Art, and Drama, we will work in grade groups to extend these designs to create meaningful, experiential learning experiences for our classrooms.

Designing Math and Science Projects that Promote Cross Curricular Competencies
Alberta Education is promoting a set of cross curricular competencies that will be developed and applied by every student across grade and subject areas.  The goal is to create engaged thinkers who have more opportunities to pursue learning with direct application to real life situations.  Participants will be shown how they can design projects that include elements of numerous competencies while meeting science and math outcomes.  Opportunity to discuss and plan how to implement ideas will be provided.

Google Classroom and Google Apps for Education – How I Use Them Every Day in My Classroom
Two years ago, I started using Doogle docs in my classroom. Last year, I managed to migrate completely over to Google classroom, and have gone “paperless” in my lab. In this session I will show you how Google classroom works, but also a plethora of Google apps, Chrome extensions, and websites that I use regularly to make my classroom accessible, fun, and engaging for all of my students. Come bring your laptop or tablet if you have one.

Cross-curricular Competencies: How to develop student competencies using environmental and energy education
This workshop will explore how authentic energy and environmental education learning experiences can be used to develop the competencies of an engaged thinker, and ethical citizen with an entrepreneurial spirit. We will use a few classroom learning stories to explore authentic learning that delivers on the cross-curricular competencies. We’ll engage in activities to help you identify ways you’re delivering on the cross-curricular competencies. We’ll also use the Curriculum for a Sustainable Future learning outcomes to help you expand your current curriculum and explore community resources to help you use environmental and energy education to develop your students’ competencies.
