In April 2017, Daryl was appointed to help open a Green STEM Academy in the fall of 2017. He has been an administrator in Edmonton Catholic for 9 years and he was also the K-12 Science Consultant for Edmonton Catholic Schools for 9 years.  For 3 years, Daryl worked for Alberta Education Assessment Branch in charge of the Math 6&9 PAT and has extensive experience developing and working with the Elementary, Junior and Senior High Science curriculum, facilitating elementary Science and Math workshops throughout Alberta, Canada and the United States. Daryl received the APEGGA's Math and Science Teacher of the Year in 1997. The Alberta Wheat Pool and Alberta Agriculture have named 2 Awards in Daryl's honour. He has worked with a number of school boards in the United States developing performance based assessments in all subject areas. Daryl has a B.Sc. (Math & Science) and a B.Ed. degree from the University of Alberta, and an M.Ed from the University of Portland. He holds an executive position with the ATA Mathematics Specialist Council, has been on the Conference Organizing Committee for MCATA for over 15 years, was a co-chair of the joint conference “Geeks Unite” and was one of the founding members and continues to help run the Young Scientist Conference which will be celebrating its 26th year of existence. Daryl enjoys teaching post secondary students at both Concordia University and Kings University College who are preparing to become elementary science teachers.
